When Sweden's oldest university hospital, the Uppsala University Hospital, was renewing its main power supply from medium voltage to low voltage distribution, Piller UPS systems were selected to provide the power protection solution.
The Uppsala Hospital was looking for a centralised UPS system which offered reliability, efficiency and a small footprint owing to the limited space available in the new energy centre. For the redundant supply of the entire campus with up to 6.6MVA of UPS power, eight Piller UNIBLOCK UBT 1670 medium voltage rotary UPS units will be supplied complete with POWERBRIDGE back-up. The medium power voltage option was selected owing to its space saving benefit and the UPS power will be provided by means of a double-ring on medium voltage level to all parts of the hospital. The units will be installed in November this year.
