Sartorius Group installs Piller UPS with flywheel power back up at its new Göttingen facility.

Sartorius, the global life sciences company, is using Piller’s UPS systems in its new production facility for filter membranes in Göttingen, Niedersachsen in Germany.

Sartorius, founded in 1870, is a 3.5bn euro international biotechnology and laboratory equipment supplier. A longstanding customer of Piller, the company has once again deployed Piller’s UNIBLOCK™ system equipped with Powerbridge kinetic energy storage to provide high quality power and back up for its filter membrane product line.

Sartorius filter membrane applications in bioscience include API Filtration, Sterile Filtration, Protein Purification, and Raw Material Filtration for cell analysis, liquid handling, weighing applications, sample preparation, laboratory water, and more. Constant availability of high-quality power to ensure equipment and product quality control is paramount.

All pharmaceutical manufacturing processes rely on energy intensive applications such as air handling units and environmental control systems that require continuous, conditioned power.

The avoidance of importation of impurities is a major concern in clean manufacturing. For example, negative and positive air pressure can be a vital part of maintaining sterile production environments.

Medical manufacturing is conducted under the world’s strictest compliance and regulatory regimes such as from the US Federal Drugs Agency (USFDA) and the European Medicines Agency (EMA). For manufacturers any loss of electricity for even a few seconds can halt production, lead to contamination and result in compliance failures.

Along with the UPS Piller will provide the Sartorius Group with comprehensive 24/7 service support from a Piller service team.

The flue gas system for the UNIBLOCK™ systems are installed at the Sartorius manufacturing site.
