Algeria’s leading bottled water company, Piller protected

Algerian natural bottled water supplier installs Piller’s UBTD+ 4MW UPS for production line power back up

One of Algeria’s leading water brands, a natural bottled water producer with its main factory located in Djemmorah in Biskra Province Algeria, has turned to Piller to protect it’s production facility.

Founded in 1988, they have been providing bottles of fresh natural spring water for over 30 years. Secure power infrastructure is crucial in their largely automated factory production environment. Any loss of power can cause major disruption to production and result in environmental contamination.

To provide power protection and back up Piller France installed 2 x No-break UNIBLOCK™ UBTD+ 2250 kW PB21 in medium Voltage 30 KV with MTU engines.

Equipment being protected includes all factory components which produce the end product, such as the compressor, pump, water bottle filling, packing and chiller cooling system. Since 2014 at the heart of the company’s production line in Djemmorah is a Krones monoblock comprising a blow modeler filler with a module fill consisting of 90 filling valves and a capper.  The UBTD+ is a unique design with optional energy storage and engine to offer versatility that meet specific load requirements.

Natural mineral water is renowned for its purity and mineral balance which makes it healthy for children and adults. Due to the factory’s location near the Aures Mountain chain the limestone acts as natural preserve that protects the water from pollutants common in urban areas.

As one of Algeria’s principal suppliers of fresh natural water they produce over 30,000 2.0-litre size bottles an hour. Across all facilities it is around 3 million bottle fills per day. After a successful deployment the total supplied power load is 4 MW with a possible additional 4.5 MW unit to be installed in the future.
