Zipper manufacturing giant select Piller UPS technology for Bangladesh facility
Piller Germany and Piller India have together won a joint turnkey project for the delivery and installation of its first rotary UPS systems to Bangladesh – one of the biggest UPS contracts ever awarded in the country.
The project, for YKK, the world’s largest Japanese award-winning zipper manufacturer involves the design, installation and commissioning of a high reliability power supply for the extension to its existing facility in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The group also manufactures other fastening products, architectural products, plastic hardware and industrial machinery. The customer is currently engaged in business in 73 countries and regions around the world with more than 45,000 employees.
Piller will be supplying for the first phase a medium voltage parallel configuration with two UNIBLOCK UBTD+ 1800kW units each with a kinetic energy storage system expandable to 10MVA in future phases. The UBTD+ diesel coupled unit produces the most space-efficient power supply possible.
The customer selected the joint Piller bid after an exhaustive investigation into the best, most complete system to support a modern industrial production process within the particular demands of Bangladesh grid conditions.
Andrew Vellender, Managing Director of Piller Power India said:
“This contract is a major win for our Indian subsidiary. Piller’s installed base for rotary UPS units around the world is vast, and continues to be a preferred solution for many applications, it represents the most efficient and reliable power supply combination for critical applications and is testament to the success of many thousands of applications worldwide.”
Delivery of the new project is due to take place later this year.
